Thanks for attending my Tricks of the Trade session at the FAEA conference.
You can find the powerpoint and some of the other documents here.
Please feel free to add your comments, suggestions, and questions about teaching art on this blog.
Thank you so much for your presentation. It was great chatting with you randomly throughout the conference. As an undergrad who's almost done, you have been a great help and inspiration. I'm looking forward to following your blog.
hi there biggreen, i hope that you will feel free to ask questions and tell us all about the new stuff that you have learned. even though this is a blog, it is my hope that it will be more collaborative in nature. marilyn
i saved a lot of the stuff that i got from the vendor and put it into a goodie bag for the kids. it's amazing how a little thing can make a big difference to them. for example: ~ i had cut out the design magazine advertisement/poster from ringling and posted it on the wall. a while ago one of my 6th grade boys said how much he liked it. so i said i would give it to him when i took it down. i cannot begin to tell you how thrilled he was when i gave him the poster sized design that i brought back. ~ some of the eighth graders and i were looking at the scad catalog and reading the courses necessary for some of the majors. they were thrilled that they would not have to take a bunch of the classes that they are not too thrilled with now like science and math. ~ on wednesday when Kristina and i meet with the 8th grade portfolio prep group after school, i want to show them the center for creative studies website. there is one section that shows examples of the admission portfolio works from freshman. they are used to looking at scholastic portfolios so this should be a bit of a relief for them.
